Welcome to MARIE DERAISMES LODGE #352
Marie Deraismes Lodge #352, located in the heart of New York City (Manhattan), is one of the oldest Lodges in the US, and was named after Marie Deraismes not only to honor one of the founding members of Le Droit Humain, who opened the doors to the admission of women on the basis of full equality into Freemasonry, but also because the life’s work of Marie Deraismes exemplified in her actions (social benevolent activities) and conduct (enlightened ideas) the Masonic ideals of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
She believed in the absolute freedom of conscience of each individual; she believed in the fundamental right, based on natural law, giving each individual the potential of spiritual development based on ancient traditions and continuous study; and she believed in equal justice for all based on her compassion for Humanity. |
We—women—we want to be what we are, not what you have made us" (1869)
